Marbella and Estepona, two gems on the Costa del Sol, are not only known for their beautiful beaches and picturesque old towns but also for their vibrant festival scenes. Throughout the year, these towns host a variety of festivals that celebrate local culture, traditions, and entertainment. Here, we will explore the festivals in Marbella and Estepona, organized by the four seasons.

Spring

Semana Santa (Holy week)


  • Location: Marbella and Estepona

  • Date: March/April

  • Description: Both Marbella and Estepona host elaborate processions during Holy Week. Residents and visitors can witness beautifully decorated floats carrying religious statues through the streets, accompanied by music and candlelight. This solemn event reflects the deep-rooted Catholic traditions of the region.

San Isidro Labrador

Summer Feria de San Bernabé

  • Description: This is one of Marbella’s most important festivals, celebrating its patron saint, San Bernabé. The week-long event includes parades, flamenco dancing, bullfights, and a fairground with rides and games. The entire town comes alive with vibrant decorations and festive activities.

Noche de San Juan (Midsummer night)

  • Description: Celebrated on the beach, the Noche de San Juan marks the beginning of summer. Bonfires are lit along the coast, and people jump over the flames and swim in the sea at midnight for good luck. It's a magical night filled with music, dancing, and fireworks.

Feria y Fiestas Mayores

  • Date: First week of July

  • Description: Estepona’s main fair includes parades, traditional music, dance performances, and bullfighting. The streets are decorated with lights, and there are numerous stalls offering local food and drinks. The fairground is bustling with rides and entertainment for all ages.

Virgen del Carmen

  • Location: Marbella and Estepona

  • Date: July 16th

  • Description: This maritime festival honors the patron saint of fishermen, the Virgen del Carmen. A statue of the virgin is carried through the streets and then placed on a boat, which is followed by a procession of decorated fishing boats. The event includes fireworks, music, and dancing.


Starlite Festival

  • Location: Marbella

  • Date: July/August

  • Description: The Starlite Festival is one of the most anticipated summer events in Marbella. This music and entertainment festival attracts renowned international and national artists. In addition to concerts, the festival features high-quality gastronomy, fashion, and unique shows in an exclusive atmosphere.

Autumn


Marbella International Film Festival

Seafood fair

  • Description: This seafood fair is a must-visit for food lovers. Held at the port, the Feria del Marisco offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, including paella, grilled fish, and shellfish. It's a gastronomic celebration that highlights the region's rich maritime heritage.


Winter


Christmas and New Year's Celebrations
